Plumber
|
There are
many jobs that fall under the plumbing category such as
fixing a leaky faucet or a running toilet, installing new fixtures,
replacing a sink or toilet and unclogging drains. More
complicated
jobs include new installations of sinks, toilets and showers that
involve new hot and cold supply pipes and drain/vent pipes.
Do it yourself
There are a significant number of resources for today's
do it yourselfer in the area of plumbing. Just about any task that
involves the replacement of existing parts has a detailed step by step
guide to walk you through the process. As a do it yourselfer,
all
you have to do is locate and follow the instructions.
If you don't feel up to the entire task, you can still purchase the
fixtures to be installed so that you do not have to pay the plumber to
do the shopping.
Hire a reputable plumber
Since calling a plumber is usually an emergency, people
tend to call the biggest name in the phonebook or the the name that
they have heard the most. Unfortunately, those big name
plumbers
may be the most expensive and would not necessarily provide the best
references.
Before you
have an emergency,
it is best to find a reliable plumber by asking around the neighborhood
and obtaining references and hourly rates. When asking
questions,
you will want to know:
- how responsive they are to emergencies,
- how clean they are when they work,
- how large the company is (will you always have
the same plumber)
